June 22, 2022Development of an Online Project on Whole-person Development in University Students
June 22, 2022Developing Experiential VTL Materials for “Leadership Education and Development” (LEAD)
“PolyU students are required to take a 3-credit leadership subject as graduation requirement. While Faculty of Business offers a Disciplinary Specific Requirement subject, APSS offers a General University Requirement subject entitled “Tomorrow’s Leaders” to more than 2,000 students annually. “Tomorrow’s Leaders” emphasizes experiential learning, reflective learning, and collaborative learning via the use of in-class activities, such as group sharing and role-play. Under virtual teaching and learning, we plan to develop relevant pedagogies, teaching and learning activities as well as materials when the leadership subjects are conducted online.
There are several objectives of this project: 1) to develop experiential learning materials on “Tomorrow’s Leaders” regarding leadership qualities such as resilience, cognitive competence, emotional competence, moral competence, and law abidance; 2) to evaluate the perceived qualities of the developed materials and their implementation; and 3) to understand the impacts of the developed pedagogies and related programs on both students and teachers.
This project generates several deliverables: 1) animation videos and voice-over slides as teaching materials to introduce and explain concepts and theories; 2) multimedia cases and examples to illustrate the importance of leadership qualities to the students; and 3) mobile applications (apps) that incorporate assessment tools and questionnaires related to the course.”
