Integrating Health and Social Services

Integrating Health and Social Services is an elective course for Master of Social Work students at APSS PolyU. The course adopts a problem-solving and experiential learning approach. One of the key feature of the course is the utilization of immersive technology for the co-production of knowledge and ideas between the course instructor and students. Through the use of immersive experience technology, students are trained to identify the strengths and challenges of their targeted populations and to create socially innovative solutions. The final project requirement to produce a 360 footage about their target populations offers students an opportunity to shadow their clients. The showing of the 360 videos at the immersive experience hub-HIVE allows other students to obtain a first-hand immersive experience of their peers project and thoroughly understand the real life experiences of different populations in Hong Kong, which stands apart from traditional 2D video sharing.
