Social work and human services have been moving to a “new normal” with the use of digital technology in service provision. Therefore, learning how to ethically deliver and manage human services with digital technology is essential to students studying courses related to human services.
The project, Digital Forums, funded by the Departmental Learning and Teaching Grant Funds, aimed to facilitate the development and enrichment with digital elements of the social work programmes.
We have invited the Society for Innovation and Technology in Social Work to collaborate with us in this project. We have designed and produced a digital casebook, in video format, on interviews with professionals from different fields of human services to share with us how to apply the latest technology in developing new services. Topics of the casebook were:
1. Text and Video Counselling
2. Online Gaming and Life-planning
3. Self-assessment through Online
4. Social Media and Mental Health Education
Through this project, students would be able to acquire a contextualized understanding of human services in digital world; to identify professional roles, to enhance competence in, and to critically appraise the application of digital knowledge and skills in different settings of human services.
