Integrating Health and Social Services
August 27, 20242024 TIMS Team
Our team consists of four adventurous academics from the social sciences, building engineering, design and information technology and an educational technologist. We were brought together by 1) a series of teaching and learning issues such as insufficient learning space, universal demand for asynchronous learning, student’s limited participation in class, student’s changed learning habits – the result of their reliance on online tools – and their demand for timely feedback; and 2) a belief that we can enhance teaching and learning using educational technologies to generate more meaningful learning experiences. We aim to enrich students’ learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom so that they are well-prepared and equipped to cope with real-world problems when they leave the classroom and university.
The TIMS model TIMS is a pedagogical model based on four elements that our team strongly believes should be included in pedagogies to cope with present and future teaching and learning challenges: 1. Engage students with educational technologies and platforms that encourage collaborative sharing and teacher-student interaction to foster autonomy. 2. Cater to digital-era students by empowering them as active participants in their learning journeys. 3. Encourage teachers to embrace student contributions and co-create content for relevant, timely pedagogy. 4. Foster students’ creativity through multi-modal assessments and their value through formative peer feedback.
