Mission and Vision of Inspiration Hub
Inspiration Hub (IH) is a brand new idea in looking for a way to hold, share and attract ideas and endeavors on the Learning and Teaching (L & T) Domain of the Department in one single platform. It captures scholarly activities in teaching enhancement, including teaching and learning development as well as curriculum and pedagogy designs of colleagues.
Through the showcase of the best practices of L & T endeavor of the time in the IH, the teaching philosophy of the Department can be most vividly captured, and interesting parties can know more about the soft side of the Department – how different ideas are trying out in day-to-day L & T activities. Needless to say, this becomes also a platform to promote teaching quality among peers.
The Hub exists in a dual mode – website and mobile app: the former is a content-stored platform and the latter a content player. The two modes are in sync and App even provides capability to work offline, which has high values in publicity and/or pedagogical purposes.
The platform, managed by the Departmental Learning and Teaching Committee (DLTC) is not only transparent, but dynamic. Its content will be continuously updated to capture latest L & T endeavors, and is hoping to be an interactive platform with external stakeholders in the long run.
Objective of Inspiration Hub
since 2016
There are five objectives of the IH:
1. To showcase the best practices of L & T and/or educational research ideas in a dynamic and interactive manner
2. To mentor new teaching staff with examples of L & T attempts in APSS context through observing the successful pedagogical applications in APSS subjects
3. To act as a virtual community of practice that provides an archive comprising of documents, reports and videos of previous and current L & T practices for colleagues to gather around and collaborate for tryouts
4. To provide consistent in-service training to postgraduate Teaching Assistants who may need to implement different pedagogies to support L & T activities
5. To act as a publicity platform to allow relevant stakeholders (including DSE candidates, overseas educational partners, sponsoring bodies, assessment panels) to get close encounters of day-to-day blended learning and flipped classroom approaches of the University as reflected from a departmental practice
Terms of Reference of DLTC
1. To be responsible to the Head of Department for matters pertaining to teaching and learning development;
2. To develop policies related to the promotion of quality teaching and learning within the department;
3. To consider and endorse proposals for new or continuation of ongoing programmes and subjects;
4. To receive and consider periodic reports from programme committees on the operation and effectiveness of their teaching and learning processes;
5. To consider and make recommendations on projects applying for teaching development grants, and to monitor their progress;
6. To monitor the progress and quality of LTC/OBA/QEF projects;
7. To co-ordinate and monitor the development and implementation of the 4-year undergraduate structure;
8. To promote and disseminate good practices in teaching and learning;
9. To foster the growth of a quality culture in the department
